Biofluidome: Functional Analysis of the Human Biofluidome Determination of Biofluid Proxies for Disease and Drug Interaction |
Database Tutorial |
The Human Biofluidome Database is written with a PHP front-end to a mySQL database. It is designed to investigate data from simple search criteria to more complex (compound) queries with print and export options to assist researcher. |
Biofluidome Database Search Option (Figure 1) shows search results for pituitary tissue and biofluid pairs with relative entropy p-value in decreasing order. Search reveals plasma shares significant close annotation distribution with pituitary tissue where as synovial fluid and tear lack this. Thus blood plasma is informative with regard to the pituitary gland (p < 0.001) whereas several other fluids are not (e.g. cerebral spinal fluid). |
Biofluidome Database Advance Search Option (Figure 2) shows an example of a complex query. In this example, biofluid and tissue show difference in relative entropy bits for disease, drug and GO term. Higher the entropy bit value more more significant the number is, indicating the signifinace the biofluid and tissue pair (Figure 3). |
User can print results of search queries using Biofluidome Database Print Option (Figure 4) or export the results using Biofluidome Database Export Option (Figure 5) to a variety of formats, including XML, Excel, CSV, and Word. Biofluidome Database Export Option to Excel (Figure 5) shows an example of export to Excel. |
Biofluidome Effective efficiency (Figure 6) shows depth and Biofluidome Diversity efficiency (figure 7) shows breadth of proteins suggesting more proteins are found for a biofluid proteome and less unique functional categories. |
